Daisy: Art Metals

This is a close up of my texture and the rivet that is holding the dome onto the petals.

For my metals class our assignment is a nature study and as I said before I have decided to make a daisy. So, it took me forever to sand and cut every thing, but in the end it has been very rewarding. When I riveted the two layers of petals together I was so excited I showed the whole class how proud I was by twirling around and shouting YES! everyone thought that I had finished, but I wasn't even close. I made the petals out of aluminum and if anyone knows about metal you know that aluminum is really hard to make look pretty and get all of the scratches out. After trying everything I could think of I decided to sand blast it and I am so glad I did. It gave the metal this pearl matte that is so pretty! The center of the daisy is made of brass. The texture on it took me like 2 or 3 hours to finish. I had to individually place each bump. Then I did a patina on it to get a brown color on the metal. I then sanded the patina off of the texture so that I got a yellow with brown in the crevices. I am very proud of it and I think it is beautiful!! :)
