Chuck Close is a photographer/painter. He is very well known for taking photos of peoples faces and painting them in an almost psychedelic way. This is called photo-realist painting. His paintings are usually very large. When you look at them closely the image of the person disappears and all you can see are colors placed next to each other, but if you look at it at a distance you can see a very good likeness of the person. In these photos of his work you can see that he creates a grid and only works on one square at a time. It is really pretty cool!
